Sandburg Men’s Soccer Beats Oakton 5-1 in Region IV Opener

DES PLAINES — The 20th-ranked Carl Sandburg College men’s soccer team started its Region IV schedule with a 5-1 victory Saturday at Oakton.

Sophomore Guylberson Camille (Key West, Fla./Key West) scored twice for the Chargers (2-0 overall, 1-0 Region IV), while Pedronel Herrera (Cali, Colombia/Colegio Claret) had a goal and two assists.

Sandburg took a 3-0 lead into halftime, with the game’s first goal coming in the 14th minute as Hererra connected with Jean Forestal (Ocoee, Fla./Ocoee) on a through ball. Neemias Moreira (Uberlandia, Brazil/EE Messias Pedreiro) gave the Chargers a 2-0 lead in the 17th minute, and Camille scored his first of the match in the 29th minute.

Camille and Herrera added Sandburg’s two goals in the second half. The Chargers put 19 shots on goal and had seven corner kicks.

Sandburg keeper Benjamin Hilton (West Sussex, England/Crawley Town Academy) made seven saves on eight shots on goal by the Owls (0-2).
